Vagamon is another hill station in Idukki district, and is a famous tourist spot in Kerala like Munnar. The place is is famous for its meadows, hill formations, natural attractions and panoramic views. And the place is really famous in various film industries in India because of these hills and meadows.
My intention is not to explore the already famous places in Vagamon like
- Vagamon meadows
- Pine valley
- Suicide point etc
But, I’m going to explore some hidden places that is worth a visit on the way to Vagamon.

Attractions
- Ilaveezhapoonchira: This is a small trekking spot on the way to Vagamon from Thodupuzha. It is a hill station bordering Idukki and Kottayam district Kerala, we can see the Thodupuzha town from the top of Ilaveezhapoonchira. The off road lovers love this place as that is a complete off-road if we need to reach peak! Since the place is not famous one, these is no shops or toilets or hotels are available nearby. But, we can get jeep safari on request from main road!

- Illikkalkallu: Illikkalkallu is a small hill station in Kottayam district Kerala, situated around 3600 ft above the sea level. The hill place is famous for misty weather during morning and evenings and a favorite spot for most the photographers. The place is managed by district tourism council and hence there is an entry fee and we can’t go with private vehicle till the peak.

- Marmala waterfalls: Marmala waterfalls is a beautiful waterfall in Kottayam district which should not be missed during the trip! The stream would be too heavy during monsoon season (June – October) and gets normal after that. We can swim in Maramal falls, in different locations of the stream. Since this is not a official tourism spot that is taken care by KTDC/DTDC there are entry fee and no security guard as well, please take necessary precautions before swim into the falls!

- Elappally waterfalls: Elappally waterfalls is a small water stream besides the road in between Moolamattom – Vagamon road. It is really a cool place to relax there with the sound of the stream. Need to take extra caution if you are try to climb over the rocks as those can be slippery.
