Mankulam

Mankulam is a small village in Idukki district, Kerala. The place resides in the old Kothamangalam – Munnar road, which used to transport goods between Kochi and Munnar from 1891s. So, Mankulam has a historical importance in Kerala Tourism.

  • Aluva – Munnar royal path bridge (raja patha) – This bridge made across the Mankulam river for connecting the royal path from Kothamangalam to Mankulam village.

  • Aanakkulam – I would say don’t miss this place if you visit Mankulam! Because this would be a great place for Photographers, Adventure travelers and those people who wants to have a deep bath in fresh water river inside thick forest. As the name indicates, this place contains a river, where elephants used to have water. Please have a look to the below video, that I took from Anakkulam.

  • Waterfalls – Even though Mankulam is small village, the place is blessed with lots of waterfalls. The important waterfalls that you shouldn’t miss is Virippara waterfalls, as the beauty of this waterfalls can’t be defined. The falls have enough strength during the summer as well and we can have bath safely!
